COMPLIANCE CHECKS Building Regulations Part L 2008 Compliance
As part of the Building Regulations Part L 2008 any new dwelling is required to be designed and constructed so as to limit the amount of energy required for the operation of the dwelling and the amount of C02 emissions associated with this energy use.

Many Local Authorities now require evidence of compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations as part of the planning process.

For new dwellings this requirement shall be met by:

1. Confirmation of that the energy performance of the dwelling meets the requirements of the regulations when calculated using the Domestic Energy Assessment Procedure (DEAP) published by Sustainable Energy Ireland.

2. Providing that a reasonable proportion of the energy consumption to meet the energy performance of a dwelling is provided by renewable energy sources.

3. Limiting heat loss and availing of heat gain through the fabric of a building where applicable.

4. Providing and commissioning energy efficient space and water heating systems with efficient heat sources and effective controls.

5. Providing that all oil and gas fired boilers shall meet a minimum seasonal net efficiency of 86%.

6. Providing to the dwelling owner sufficient information about the building, the fixed building services and their maintenance requirements so that the building can be operated in such a manner as to use no more fuel and energy than is reasonable.

We can provide checks for compliance with the requirements of the Building Regulations and ensure that the proposed dwelling will comply. We will issue the relevant Local Authority with the required documentation and advise on the most cost effective ways to meet these requirements.
